About Us

We are a body of Christian believers who are committed to God and to living out His truths found in the Bible. We believe our purpose as a church is to be a gathering of communities who share Jesus throughout the week and then assemble for refreshing worship and teaching.

Oak Ridge Community Church has been meeting in the Columbia area since 1993. We originally met in schools, starting with Clarksville Middle and Elementary schools, until we moved to The Gathering Place in River Hill / Clarksville in September 2005.

Church in Clarksville

Sundays at 9:30am

What to Expect on a Sunday

You are invited to join us on a Sunday morning at 9:30am. Our services typically begin with a time of celebration in song. We find that music is a powerful way to connect with God. Each week, the Oak Ridge Worship Team leads us with scripture, prayer and songs by contemporary Christian artists like Chris Tomlin, Hillsong United, Paul Baloche, Matt Redman, David Crowder Band, Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, Jeremy Camp, Third Day, Desperation Band, Kari Jobe and more. Our services also include a time of teaching by one of our pastors or leaders.

Family Ministry on Sundays

Our Family Ministry is committed to presenting God’s word to children while being Godly examples to those we teach. Our mission is to support parents as they train up their children in the knowledge and respect of God. We seek to provide a clean, safe environment for children. To help ensure the safety of the children, all of our adult staff undergo a professional background check.

Nursery Care

We provide responsible childcare so parents can worship in the main service free of distraction.

  • The upstairs nursery room is open for parents to use in caring for infants without volunteer support during the regular Sunday services.
  • Our toddler Nursery provides care for children who are nine months to three years old. This is offered every Sunday, excluding 5th Sundays of a month.

Each child in the Nursery is checked in when brought to the nursery. A parent will receive a text to the cell phone number given if the nursery staff needs them to come help their child. Parents will need to show their parent sticker when picking up their child.

Sunday School: PreK - 8th grade

The Family Ministry team offers Sunday School classes for children Pre-K through 8th grade on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. Each lesson offers a Biblical teaching and discussion. More information can be found at Answers in Genesis ABC website. Our teachers have a passion to help their students to grow spiritually and to have a fulfilling life.

Sunday school volunteers perform security check-in for children in the upstairs lobby starting at 9:15 am. The Nursery (9 months – 3 years) opens at 9:15 downstairs. Grades pre-k to 8th-grade worship in the sanctuary and will be dismissed to their classes following worship.

On the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, our children stay in service with everyone. We call these our family Sundays. There is a special teaching time for them and are sometimes asked to participate in various parts by our teaching team. Activity pages are available for children in the lobby these days, and they are of course welcome to bring other activities in with them.

In faith and reliance on the Holy Spirit, ORCC will envision, equip, and release our saints to deeply love God, one another, and the lost.  We will be devoted to God’s Word, evangelism and building strong families so that we can multiply our lives and disciple one another to full maturity in Christ.

What We Believe

The Scripture

The sole basis of our beliefs is the Bible, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. It was uniquely, verbally, and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and was written without error in the original manuscript. It is the supreme and final authority in faith and life in every age.

Man

God created man in His own image, and man as he was originally created, was innocent before God. But man chose to sin by disobeying God, and therefore was alienated from his Creator and came under divine condemnation. Thus all human beings are born with a corrupted nature and without spiritual life, and are totally incapable of pleasing God in and of themselves.

Salvation

Men and women are freed from the penalty for their sins not as a result, in whole or in part, of their own works, goodness, or religious ceremony, but by the undeserved favor of God alone. God declares righteous all who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation.

Assurance

All who are born again of the Spirit can be fully assured of their eternal life from the very moment they put their faith in Christ. This assurance is not based on any kind of human merit, but upon the fact of God’s election, upon Christ’s complete payment for our sins, and upon the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, who is the deposit guaranteeing our inheritance.

Baptism & The Lord's Supper

Jesus Christ has instructed those who believe in Him to be baptized in water as a symbol of their new birth in Christ. Baptism is only for those who have personally believed in Christ. Our practice is to baptize by immersion. The Lord also instituted the Lord’s Supper as a remembrance of His suffering, death, and resurrection. Neither baptism nor the Lord’s Supper has any merit in helping a person obtain eternal life.

God

There is but one God, infinite in power, wisdom, justice, goodness and love, Creator of the universe, eternally existing in three persons-Father, Son and Holy Spirit-each of whom possesses all the attributes of Deity and the characteristics of personality.

Jesus Christ

God the Father, by His own choice and out of love for sinful men and women, sent Jesus Christ into the world to reconcile sinners to Himself. Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He was God in the flesh, both true God and true man. Jesus Christ lived a sinless life and voluntarily suffered and died as our substitute to pay the penalty for our sins, thus satisfying God’s justice and accomplishing salvation for all those who trust in Him alone. He rose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He lived and died. He bodily ascended into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God the Father, where He, the only mediator between God and man, makes intercession for His own. He will return to earth personally, visibly, and bodily to judge all men and establish His kingdom.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit has come into the world to reveal and glorify Christ, to convict men and women of their sins, and to impart new life to all who place their faith in Christ. He indwells believers from the moment of spiritual birth, seals them until the day of redemption, and empowers them to live a life pleasing to God.

The Resurrection of the Dead

At physical death, the believer enters immediately into eternal, conscious fellowship with the Lord and awaits the resurrection of his or her body to everlasting glory, and blessing. At physical death, the unbeliever enters into eternal, conscious separation from the Lord and awaits the resurrection of his or her body to everlasting suffering, judgment, and condemnation.

The Church

All true believers make up the church worldwide and should assemble together in local churches for worship, prayer, fellowship, and teaching, in order to become conformed to the image of Christ and to become equipped to carry out the ‘Great Commission’ that Christ gave His followers in Matthew 28:19-20.

Vision & Mission

Vision Statement

Oak Ridge Community Church aspires to be a gathering of believers united in their practice of following Jesus and being fishers of men.

Mission Statement

In faith and reliance on the Holy Spirit, ORCC will envision, equip, and release our saints to deeply love God, one another, and the lost.  We will be devoted to God’s Word, evangelism and building strong families so that we can multiply our lives and disciple one another to full maturity in Christ.

What’s Next?

Over the next year, ORCC will continue to be strong in developing our love for Jesus, cultivating a family atmosphere and engaging in refreshing Sunday worship.  We will continue to display humility and transparency and seek unity as leaders.

Our number one need as a church is to develop a culture of evangelism in our everyday lives, within our life groups and as a church as a whole.

We will be successful in our envisioning efforts when we see tangible improvements in the following key areas of church life: leadership, communication, evangelism, discipleship, and teaching.

Prayer would become a foundational weapon in the spiritual battle that rages in our world, our church, and our personal lives. Worship will also be elevated to become more of an offensive weapon to defeat Satan in these three main areas of our lives.
